“Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band” is included in this months US Airways magazine and online publication. This magazine can be found behind every seat on every US Airways airplane across the country.
They have done a cover article entitled “Take ‘Em Here-34 Live Venues. Perfect for a Client (or Yourself).” It is about live venues around the country. “The Neighborhood Theatre” where we are playing on Oct 16th was featured as one of the 34. Our picture is on the opening page (pg 39) of the article and a segment of the pic is on page 43 with our name, venue and date of show listed in a sweet little section next to a picture of Santana.
If you go to the web site below, we are one of three pictures that comes up right away on the homepage.

While on our trip out west, the Band had the opportunity to go out to see the “Mardi Gras On The Mountainside” event at Red Rocks, featuring Dr. John, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk. After exchanging a rather unique handshake with Dr. John, Greg Hollowell and other founding member of The Asheville Horns, Derrick Johnson hit the stage to play Little Feat’s “Spanish Moon” with The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. They did their Booty Band thing, got the crowd on their feet and cheering in the middle of the song. For some, that was a first time entering that historic venue. A great night! The band camped out in Steamboat Spring the next night, saw the Dirty Dozen and then proceeded to play in Steamboat the next night. Crossing paths with great musicians is one of the benefits of traveling across this great globe!

The Booty Band played in Radford, VA for July 4th at a place called “Nesslerod on the New.” It was part of the “Sunken Garden music series.” The Sunken Garden was where the band played. It was a natural ampitheatre surrounded by trees and beautiful landscaping (a site for many weddings). The sound was great, our fans had a blast, everyone that helped put on the event were very cool (thanks Mark) and we even got to DD for a few fans that were stumbling around the parking lot at the end of the night. Fun times had by all!

With a few days off after the Antarctica tour, J.P. decided time was a wastin’ and he hadn’t built his raised bed garden yet. So he went out and got some lumber, sketched out a plan, used a gas powered tiller for the first time (in the complete darkness) and now has a very uniquely shaped raised bed garden that will easliy convert to a simple greenhouse. He plans on growing zuchini, squash, garlic, potatoes, brocolli, kale, basil, oregano, lettuce, rosemary, cayenne, habanero, serano and jalapeno peppers, carrots, onions, bell peppers, rhubarb, beans and already has strawberries and blueberries in full effect. And the best part: IT’S ALL ORGANIC!!!

The band will be heading west again in August. We’ve been loving some Colorado, and from the looks of it, they’ve been loving on us as well. The guys had a great winter tour out there in March and are returning to play many of the same cities (minus all the snow). Check out the dates listed below. There will be more added very soon.
